Management Positions

BUTLER
Approximate Salary Range: $45,000 - $100,000 per year
Formally trained or highly experienced. Supervises and coordinates activities of the household and all household employees. Receives and announces guests, answers the telephone, sets the table, serves meals and drinks, and performs various personal services.

MAJOR-DOMO
Approximate Salary Range: $85,000 - $225,000 per year
Responsible for the care of an estate or estates. The Major-Domo usually has the responsibility for the inside care of the estate. Provides continuity of staff, service and personal needs between all properties. Duties might also include managing financial accounts, seasonal opening and closing of employer's estates, and acting as a personal assistant.

PERSONAL ASSISTANT
Approximate Salary Range: $35,000 - $80,000 per year
Works directly with his employer or could be of service to the House Manager, Butler, or Major-Domo. Duties could include care of house guests needs and requests, coordination of parties and other events, personal shopping, handling of personal correspondence, keeping the family calendar and appointments, and being an expert at proper table and household decor.

HOUSE MANAGER
Approximate Salary Range: $35,000 - $60,000 per year
Experienced in the daily running of a household. Duties could include managing a staff, housekeeping, laundry, ironing, errands, grocery shopping, cooking, or basically whatever
needs to be done.
